*Journey of Pushya Ankita Foundation* Pushya Ankita Foundation Adopted and took over management of Saraitakki And Ramaipatti Gaushala Varanasi,Uttar Pradesh on 25/02/2021 , during nationwide lockdown. By February 2021, Both the gaushalas had become home to more than 150 cattle. Most of these being old, infirm cows In the last Four months of working in Varanasi, we were awakened to the cruelty and cattle trafficking that is rampant in the region. *Our current infrastructure* Our existing shed houses 150-200 cattle, and so on 1 April we swiftly got into action to make room for our New Members As Number of cows Increasing Day By Day We put up two temporary sheds. On priority, we also hired new labour and security, and have quickly stocked up on fodder for our cattle for the next two months. Our June/July requirement But a temporary shed isn't enough, with the harsh summers approaching, followed by a strong monsoon, we need to put up a shed that is durable and can easily accommodate existing as well as new members. We also need to re-do our boundary fence, to ensure we can safeguard our new members from outside threats (stray animals, prey and miscreants). *Basic Vedic Design Shed 100 ft X 100 ft * Capacity 300 cattle Cost of pillars and tin roofing: 9 Lakh Fencing of our inner gaushala area Wire mesh & iron pillar fence: 3.5 lakh Water Trough (3) & Other Feeding Bays (6) . This is over and above our 7 lakh monthly costs (fodder, staff, medical, transport etc), which we manage with existing and new donors. How you can help Every drop in the ocean counts... Impact While one shed & some fencing, might not seem like much at this stage, for us its’ the start to something much bigger. A bigger shed will allow us to safely and comfortably rehabilitate many more cattle, while the new fence will ensure everyone is 100% safe.
