Help Rebuild 16th Century Mahadev Mandir Destroyed By Mughals in Unnao, UP

During the raids of foreign invaders, Bharat faced its biggest loss in religious heritage as many Hindu temples and ancient libraries were burned, looted or destroyed. During this time period Ramcharitmanas was penned by Tulsidas to preserve the essence, awareness and consciousness of Bharat and a silent and determined support to Hinduism started to grow in the tyranny and religious bigotry of the foreign rule. The people who were capable start building temples anonymously in small villages and towns to save the beliefs and the believers.

Our Bholenath Shivalay is one such temple that was built during that time period with the same beliefs and determination, it is dated around the year 1500 to 1600.  Although there is no evidence who made it, we believe the temple was built by locals with the help of Baisawara king.

In the recent past, the temple was not in good condition and all the locals took the responsibility for the restoration work in whatever capacity they can, after few decades of hard work, the temple is now in better condition. But after a recent discussion with the specialists, they suggested us to build a new roof that will save the original temple walls and foundation, it will provide protection from water, sun light and extreme weather. The new roof will not only give support to this huge structure but also add new life to it.

Bholenath Shivalay temple is based in Fattepur Basiwara, Unnao and people around this area have deep emotional and religious connect to it and a large number of devotee worship here. The Temple is also the epitome of all the social activity like Shivratri mela, Navratri puja and other social activity related to devotion and religion.

What do we need funds for?

We are starting the roof work around the temple for which we require around 30 lakh Rupees. The People of our area and nearby have started contributing for this Noble work. My humble request is to please contribute generously in this religious and auspicious work and support us to keep our temple of faith for many years to come.
