Manimoortheeswaram Temple in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu

A 500 yr old temple of “Uchishta Ganapathy” a tantric form of Ganesha, is the biggest temple in Asia and one of the rarest that is dedicated to the 8th roopa among 32 roopas of Vinayaka.  Today, it is under neglect as no one seems to take care about the heritage we have got from our ancestors.

Threat from Religious Extremists :

Radical Christian groups have planted a cemetery right adjacent to the Gopuram of the temple. This has been done so that people coming to the place would eventually come down seeing the cemetery. The cemetery is expanding as there are more graves being dug.

How will the funds be used :

The Archaka (Priest) gets a meager salary of Rs 450 a month. The fund raised from this campaign would be used for the monthly chaturthi poojas that will increase the number of devotees coming to the temple. As the footfall increases, the awareness about the cultural onslaught by the external force will also increase. This would result into a organic donation for the temple. Ganesha icha, the temple in a few years will be buzzing like before again.

Waiting for a Kalki to take birth and revive Dharma is futile in Kali yuga, it is wise to become the Kalki and establish Dharma in whatever means we can. Requesting everyone to come forward and donate so that we can establish righteousness again!
